Getting A Pizza Oven Is Just The Start
I am sure you have read and researched a lot about wood-fired ovens. There is a plethora of information available online. Searching online is one way, but I do love reading books as well.
Nothing beats the feeling of holding a book and flick through pages, bookmarking interesting facts, or looking at beautiful images.
I have reviewed a few books which provide not only mouth-watering recipes but also lots of information about traditional ways of cooking and the history of wood-fired ovens.
Book Reviews For Wood-Fired Pizza Oven Recipes
These books are inspiring and will guide you on how to make the best use of your oven. It takes time to get used to this way of cooking, and I think it’s important to acknowledge that there is a learning curve involved.
That is the beauty of traditional cooking. It can be challenging but yet so rewarding.
Essential Tools You Will Need
From a pizza peel to heat resistant gloves, from temperature guns that will help you to determine the right temperature to a brush to clean the oven.
There are a few things you will need to make using the oven so much easier and safer. The tools are reasonably priced and will make operating the oven a breeze.
I have compiled a list of essential tools and why they are important.

Challenges and Benefits Of A Wood-Fired Oven
The benefits of cooking in a wood-fired oven are huge, from a health point of view but also from the social and lifestyle aspect.
As mentioned before, it can be challenging at times too. You need to get to know your oven, and you will need to learn how to heat your oven.
For me, the most challenging part is to make the most of the heat and use it as much as I can. In other words, you can cook so many pizzas, steak, roasts, bread because a properly insulated oven retains the heat for hours.
I am not used to preparing and cooking large amounts of food, therefore it takes me quite a bit of time of planning.
Usually, I triple my pizza recipe (depending on the number of guests), the same for the pizza sauce and the toppings.
To get the pizza dough ready, I recommend using a stand mixer and I have reviewed my top choices:
The Ankarsrum AKM 6220 Stand Mixer and The Bosch Universal Mixer Plus.
Summing It Up
I do hope this overview of resources and tools will help you to find the right pizza oven for you and your family but also the accessories that go with it.
Get inspired and enjoy time with your family and friends sitting around a wood-fired oven, have a yummy pizza, and other delicious food.
The traditional way of cooking will take you away from fast food and help you to create lasting memories for years to come.
Years later your children will talk about these pizza evenings and hopefully pass it on to their children.
