Why is that you may ask? Well, one of the most annoying things when owning a charcoal grill is cleaning out the ashes.

With the Webers invention of the One-Touch cleaning system, cleaning out the ashes is a breeze.

So this brilliant cleaning system is worth its weight in gold. But you only get this feature with the slightly higher priced Premium grill, not with the basic model.

Weber Original Kettle Premium Charcoal Grill, 22″ – Review

First up, Weber Charcoal grills are built to last with high-quality materials, no matter if you are buying the basic model or the pricier ones.

The differences lay in details that will make it so much easier for you to heat up your barbeque to the desired temperature, regulate the heat and finally to clean the grill.

Another important factor in choosing Weber to other brands is not only the consistently high quality but also the fact that the majority of the grills are made in America.

The Weber Premium Charcoal grill is available in three colors, black, green and copper. That is a nice change to the usual black if you want some color in your backyard.

Here are some technical details. The Weber Premium Charcoal measures 22.5″ x 38.5″ x 27″ and weighs around 32 pounds.

The grill features a porcelain enameled 22″ bowl, the One-Touch cleaning system as mentioned before, a hinged grill grate and rust-resistant aluminum dampers.

A nice feature to have is the thermometer in the lid.

The cooking area covers 363 square inches.  That means plenty of room for cooking burgers, juicy steaks and lots of sausages.

The bowl handle has an integrated tool hook for all the necessary barbeque utensils.

Most customers found the assembly of the grill very easy.

The hinges on both sides of the grill grate are perfect to add more charcoal over time.

What Are The Cons

To be honest, there are not many things customers complain about. We have done a lot of research and found only a few minor issues.

Some customers have found the cooking grate not robust enough. Sometimes the legs can feel a bit wobbly.

Most problems occurred with the delivery e.g. missing pieces or damaged parts. That is when Weber’s excellent customer service comes into play.

Our Verdict

If you are sitting on the fence of deciding between the Weber Kettle Original model or the Premium one, all we can say is that both models are made with the same high-quality materials which make them durable for years to come.

For a price difference of around $50, the Premium model offers a hinged cooking grate so you can add charcoal quickly, a temperature gauge in the lid and a better cleaning system with a decent ash catcher.

Both models offer great value for money. If you are only grilling a few times during the year, the Weber Original will be the best choice for you.

But if you are a keen barbecue fan than the Premium, Master Touch or Performer Deluxe will be your number one choice.

How About The Weber Master-Touch Charcoal Grill

The Weber Master-Touch has, even more, features to offer than the Weber Premium Charcoal grill.

In addition to the features of the Premium grill, the Master-Touch has

• a lid hinge
• a warming rack
• two charcoal baskets for direct and indirect heating
• a cooking grate with a removable middle grate

Once you remove the middle grill, you can replace it with items from the Webers Gourmet BBQ System like a pizza stone,  the Weber cast iron Sear grate, a poultry roaster insert and a wok, just to name a few.

These additions will make your bbq experience more versatile and exciting.

The Weber Master-Touch is a bit taller and heavier than the Premium grill. It is only available in the black color.

Overall, the Weber Mastertouch Grill is an awesome addition to any outdoor kitchen.
